Australia is proposing a carbon emissions trading scheme ie: buy carbon credits to offset the pollution you produce. There are 2 blatant outcomes of this, neither good. 1. Companies will just move offshore where they don't have to pay or 2. Companies will buy the credits and just charge people more. The government has already admitted that consumers will pay at least 17% more for energy costs under this scheme.

Is there anything more obscene? It seems the farce of the Chinese torch relay was only a minor precursor to the travesty that the Beijing Olympics have become. I wonder how much China paid, or what deal they did, for the Olympics?

Withdrawing from Iraq before the country is self-sustainable is bad idea. Starting the war in the first place might have been a bad idea too, but it would only be compounding the problem to now withdraw from it. If the Australian population wants the troops withdrawn, then this might be a case of the people being wrong. The last thing we want is a completely destabilized Middle-East.

It appears as if judicial tyranny is indeed the case. Minority groups have found that if the majority of people reject your argument, you can go to the courts and get liberally-minded judges to rule in your favour, and thus impose your subjective morals on everyone else. In California, the people have voted against changing the marriage act, and yet the courts have recently overruled this. In Washington, the supreme court, which ruled against gay marriage, has refused to review a lower court decision which allows Seattle city employees same-sex marriage benefits even though this is in apparent contradiction to its own ruling.

What is the basis for these rulings? They are challenging established constitutions, they are contrary to the clear wishes (and votes) of the majority of the population, and all because the majority are being told that to do otherwise is discriminatory and violates minority rights.

Social liberalism has gone crazy, and that's not even mentioning the fact that now I should also be able to propose to my sister...

Methinks you've been listening and reading too much of the main stream media. Anyone that hates the USA and capitalism as much as she does leaves one with little option to conclude that she is after the finest traditions of Hollywood - a communist sympathiser.

Define Communist in the context of the summit?
Minds are like parachutes - they work best when open.
Moving between ideologies and retaining sense of self demonstrates security in one's own beliefs.
Methinks thou protesteth too much!

Bahahaha! This is highly amusing! Geologically, we are coming off the back of an ice age so the earth is warming up, which most people don't seem to realise. This is attributed to the Greenhouse Effect which is a natural phenomenon, however thats not to say we aren't contributing, a phenomenon called the Enhanced Greenhouse Effect. Now I myself have no Science degree but I did do high level HSC Geography and this was a pretty important aspect of it. The most important thing I took out of it was that everyone who claims the world will end in 50 years is a wingnut, a large portion of claims are unsubstantiated and well over exaggerated, and that its not all our fault.

Read the full Tribunal finding. It is pretty outrageous and shows to what extent these quasi-courts are in the pockets of the chattering classes.
