The Australian Tea Party has begun.
Disillusioned
None of the leaders of the top three parties fit my ideal as having the statesman/woman-like qualities to lead this country. I am unsure about the breadth and depth of Gillard’s competence, Abbott comes across as cocky and I have yet to see him stretch his natural intellect and Brown’s party is not strong enough. Nelson, to my mind was the intellect – yet Turnbull may yet save the day and the country.
One Federal Parliament for Australia would combine the best qualities of all our leaders and seek out the best minds and specialist disciplinary capacities without the need for a pathetic staged election campaign like the one we have just seen. It did not show the diverse qualities of any leader – more like a fracas in a schoolyard playground. Why the close election result? Neither stood out as the obvious choice.

I think the main issue was that there were no truly pressing social issues. Immigration is a major issue, but not one that Australian’s really care about. Everything else is pretty smooth sailing. Unfortunately, people have limited memories, which means that the looming crunch will be when the ALP’s insane spending catches up and people feel the real impact of Rudd and Gillard’s economic madness.
